I've been working for a while on getting us better at Family Home Evening. It always seems like a big thing to try to plan and our little guy never wants to listen. So why not make it fit his attention span? Now our FHE is about 5-10 minutes long and he even pays attention! Then we can make it longer for the parents (if we want - sometimes shorter is just fine by me!) by adding a conference talk to read and discuss.

Family Home Evening with a Toddler - Family
Song: Families Can Be Together Forever
Lesson: Show a lot of pictures of your different family members and extended family members, and have your child name them. Then bear your testimony of being together forever as a family.
Activity: Make a house with a family inside using this lesson.
Scripture: John 13:34-35
Conference Talk (For the Parents): "More Diligent and Concerned at Home," by David A Bednar, Ensign, Nov 2011.

Family Home Evening with a Toddler - Jesus Christ
Song: I Feel My Savior's Love
Lesson: Show a picture of Jesus and bear your testimony about Jesus' love for all of us. We have a picture of Jesus with children, so we'll show the picture and explain the scriptures below.
Activity: I know this seems silly, but it's a TODDLER we are dealing with here!
Everyone hugs each other a bunch of times while saying, "I Love You, Dad" or "I Love You Mom" or insert your own child's name in. It becomes a game as the toddler runs around the room from Mom to Dad to be caught for a hug.
Scripture:3 Nephi 17:11–12, 21–24

Scripture: "Establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God” (D&C 88:119).
Lesson: Bear your testimony of the Temple, how it makes you feel and how we make covenants there to be together forever.
Activity: Drive to the temple and walk the grounds. Let your child touch the temple.
Print cut out the temple here and help your child fold it into his own little temple.
